Ruisrock Festival Full Lineup Announced - Includes Special Shows

Pepe & Saimaa to play their first show ever in Ruisrock

- The Local Band will include members from rock and metal favourites

- Synth pop group Future Islands will perform in Finland for the first time

- Other confirmed acts Sonata Arctica, Vihreät Valot and YO! SDT Raps

- Opening of Ruisrock kiosk will launch Ruisrock products from clothing brand JULJA

Ruisrock festival, celebrated from 4th to 6th of July, announces full line up with new confirmed performers and special shows. The Ruisrock festival in Ruissalo of Turku, Finland will host over 60 artists of international and local stars this summer.

Pepe & Saimaa, who released their highly appraised debut album last Friday, will have their first show on Saturday in Ruisrock. Starred by Pepe Willberg and lead by Matti Mikkola, who is also known from the band Tehosekoitin, the orchestra will include 30 people, with string, brass and woodwind sections and a choir in addition to a band. The popularity of the debut album was a surprise as the album sold out from stores on its release day. Willberg has been in the Finnish music field since 1960s and the Pepe & Saimaa -project combines Willberg\'s diverse interpretation, songwriter Mikkola\'s compositions for his Saimaa-project from years ago and the impressive texts of lyricist Timo Kiiskinen.

A unique show will be provided by super assembly The Local Band, who consists of top Finnish rock and metal names Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Jussi69 (The 69 Eyes), Olli Herman (Reckless Love) and Archie Kuosmanen (Santa Cruz). The group was born when the group of friends wanted to play their favourites from Mötley Crue and W.A.S.P. to Van Halen together. The Local Band played a surprise show at rock club Tavastia and sold out the club in a heartbeat. The show at Tavastia was meant to be one of a kind but the experience praised by the group and the audience left a thirst for one more show.

\"After Archie, Olli, Alexi and I had been praising for weeks among ourselves how amazing of an experience the show was, we decided to tell our agents to try to find us a date when all of us would be in the same country at the same time. Miraculously Ruisrock Sunday was available for all of us. The Local Band is still based on us having fun playing together without any future plans and I believe that this vibe will be passed on to the audience of the finest festival of Finland, Ruisrock\", states Jussi69.

Overseas reinforcement to an already very international line-up is brought by melancholic and euphoric synth pop band Future Islands, who will be performing in Finland for the fist time. The band from United States has garnered critical acclaim with their brand new album \"Singles\" which is band\'s first release on respected record label 4AD. The Baltimore-trio playing over 200 shows a year is known for their frantic live performances led by vocalist Samuel Harring\'s distinctive voice and hypnotic stage motion.

In addition to The Local Band, Sonata Arctica will please friends of heavier music. The band is returning to Finland from their massive world tour. Having released their debut album 15 years ago, the metal group released their newest album \"Pariah\'s Child\" in the beginning of the year and it reached number one in Finnish album chart. On the new album the group has moved back towards the power metal of their earlier days.

Ruisrock will also host musicians seen especially on tv, as the pop group Vihreät Valot from YLE tv program \"Uusi päivä\" will perform at Ruisrock. The group has been writing songs and playing shows since 2010. All the members of the group are young musicians and actors who also act in the tv show \"Uusi päivä\".

YO! SDT Raps will host the Friday\'s closing party at Mini beach stage with five rap DJs. YO! Kuudes Linja Raps -club residents DJ Didier, Nada ja Tboy from Helsinki and So Damn Tuff night hosts DJ Chuck Main and Sammy Jam from Turku will offer an insight into the hottest party rap songs from the classics to the brand new songs.

The colourful area programming will be released in the near future. It will include theatre, performance, circus, visual arts and music among other programming.

The schedule of performers will be released in June.

Ruiskioski opening in Turku Market Square on Saturday

Having graced the Turku Market Square for several years, Ruiskioski will open again at the corner of Yliopistonkatu and Aurakatu streets. The opening party will be held on Saturday 5/17/2014 from 10 am until 6pm. Ruis kiosk will serve customers from Monday to Saturday until the end of the festival.

The opening will include the launch of the collaboration of clothing brand JULJA and Ruisrock. JULJA is a new Finnish women\'s clothing brand targeting international markets established in 2012 by three friends from Turku. The JULJA designed \'Ruisrock ♥ JULJA\' line will be showcased and launched for the first time on Saturday. There is a limited quantity of the products and they will be sold at Ruis kiosk.

\"The products needed to be versatile and easy to use because festival goers want a product that they can easily wear and that is easily combined with different clothes and accessories. The shirt is suitable for many occasions and can be easily worn also outside of Ruisrock. The inspiration for the shirt and the back bag came from the graphic visuals of Ruisrock. In addition the print was influenced by Aztecs of Mexico\", tells the designer Nora Peltoniemi.

On the opening day, there will be a mini fashion show showcasing the new JULJA collection and a dance show by the Wild Funky Crew dance group. You can also tune an old t-shirt to a create yourself a festival shirt for the summer with the help from the designers of JULJA. There will be a drawing of VIP tickets for Saturday for the participants of t-shirt tuning workshop. The kiosk opening day program is a part of Turku Design Festival.

The kiosk opening day will include music as well. An acoustic performance by Turku natives The 5th of April, who will also be performing in Ruisrock on Sunday as a part of the collaboration of Turku Rock Academy and Ruisrock. Having won Turku Bandstand 2011 and Hitlantis competitions, The 5th of April is the veteran of Turku Rock Academy. Ruisrock themed music is provided by DJ Boy Named Sue known from the clubs of Turku and the official after party is held at Turku Klubi in the Ruisrock-disco.

All the ticket types for Ruisrock are now on sale. 3 day ticket costs 125 euros, 2 day ticket 110 euros and 1 day ticket 75 euros. Tiketti or Lippupiste service fees apply. Ruisrock VIP and Ruisrock+ tickets are available only at Tiketti.

Festival goers have the opportunity to participate in local nature conservation work of Archipelago Sea. When purchasing the Archipelago Sea ticket there will be an addition of 3 euros that will be donated to the Protection Fund for the Archipelago Sea.
